The main goal of CEDES is to develop techniques and methods to design and build cost efficient, dependable automotive electronics. As the reproduction cost for software functions is negligible compared to the production cost of physical devices, new technology must be based on software.

New technology for dependable automotive electronics creates new business opportunities for suppliers to the automotive industry in a market segment that is expected to grow dramatically in the near future. This will create new job opportunities in both existing and new companies.

Future electronic automotive systems must meet very high demands on dependability and fault tolerance. Road safety is a core value for the Swedish automotive industry and new, commercially attractive technology is necessary for a continuous competitive edge on a global market.
